[SPOTLIGHT] 12 Acres Brewing Co. Range

Howdy!

It’s time for another beer review but we thought we’d mix it up a bit this week with not one… BUT FOUR beer reviews from the same brewery. This is the 12 Acres Brewery based in Co. Laois, Ireland.

These are 4 brews worth checking out and can be ordered from their SHOP HERE

G’luck,
Seán

The Far Side Hazy IPA by 12 Acres Brewing

This is The Far Side Hazy IPA by 12 Acres Brewing.

The brew comes in a 440ml can and has an ABV of 5.1%

I poured it into the glass to reveal quite a hazy dank orange beer with a generous white head.

On the nose, there’s a distinct fruity aroma with passion fruit, mango peaches and a bit of orange shining through.

The taste is more of the same and the flavours hold up well. The sweetness and slight bitterness of the brew is totally refreshing.

I’d give this 3.4 Far Sides out of 5

Winter Is Coming Oatmeal Porter by 12 Acres Brewing

Next up, we’ve got the Winter is Coming Oatmeal Porter by 12 Acres Brewing.

This brew comes in a 440ml can and has an ABV of 5.2%.

The pour is that of a traditional looking porter, it’s a dark brown, almost black colour with a brown head.

Ted-isms aside, I head in for a sniff. On the nose, there’s a gorgeous roast coffee and malt aroma here with a hint of hazelnut.

The taste is more of the same with some notes of chocolate, roasted coffee and a little bit of caramel coming through.

I’ve enjoyed this brew and I can imagine it’ll be a great winter warmer on those cosy nights around the fire.

I’d rate this 3.9 Starkbois out of 5

Pallet Jack India Pale Lager by 12 Acres Brewing

Next into the FRESH glass, we have the Pallet Jack India Pale Lager (IPL) by 12 Acres Brewing.

As before, this comes in a 440ml can and it’s a tiny bit lighter than the previous cans at 5% ABV.

The pour is a murky, hazy sort of deep gold colour with a lovely lager style white head.

On the nose, it smells quite clean and crisp. The notes here are lemon, citrus and orange peel.

I head in for a sip and notice how smooth it is, the carbonation is nice and the body is medium to light. The flavours here are quite tropical with orange and citrus shining through with a slightly bitter finish.

It’s proper tasty and I wish I had grabbed another one of these for this tasting session, you know… For Science!

I’d rate this 3.7 Jackybois out of 5

Make Hay Session IPA by 12 Acres Brewing

Last but not least in our tasting session is the Make Hay Session IPA by 12 Acres Brewing.

I thought I’d leave this 440ml can for last due to it being 3.8% ABV which allows for a bit of a wind down and a smooth finish to this little write up.

The pour is more or less the same as the IPL from before, a hazy deep amber but with a more generous, fluffy white head up top.

Again, the aroma here is clean, crisp and really gets the tastebuds going. The notes are grapefruit, orange and malts.

The taste is fantastic here, it’s light in carbonation and very sessionable. Flavours shining through are the fruits from before with mango, citrus, peach and there’s a nice bitterness that rings through as well.

Going on down the glass, the flavours hold up well and this will be another great summer can for the BBQ times.

I’d give this 3.8 HayMakers out of 5
