Happy Friday! Hope you’re all taking full advantage of this little sun spell we’re getting.
Today, we’re checking out the Red Noir Dark Red Ale from Wexford based brewers Yellowbelly.
As with all the Yellowbelly beers, the artwork on the can is fantastic and this is largely down to the creative mind of their designer Paul Reck, nice work!
So… Beer? This brew clocks in at 4.9% ABV and comes in a 440ml can.
I eagerly crack the can and pour it into the tasting glass to reveal a deep ruby red with a good lookin’ beige head.
On the nose, I’m hit right away with caramel, malts, chocolates, toffee and a really inviting sweetness that I just can’t wait to get stuck into.
The taste brings more of the same with bread, dark fruits and a slight hint of coffee present.
There’s a little bitterness to the ale with the body being medium to light. The carbonation is pretty light as well so it’s an easy drinker.
All in all, I’ve enjoyed this brew and can’t wait for more from Yellowbelly as anything I’ve tried from them so far has been solid.
I’d give this 3.6 Noirybois out of 5
G’luck,
Seán
