It’s day 30 of the annual Cans Across The World ‘No Craic November’ charity effort where we raise money for a chosen charity every year by giving up alcohol for 1 month.
This year, the chosen charity is Metal For Life who are an incredible mental health charity, you can donate directly to them on their Web Site https://www.metalforlifeni.co.uk/ or at their Pay Pal link here: https://www.paypal.com/gb/fundraiser/charity/3768593
This is the last day we’ll be off the booze here at Cans Across The World and what a journey it has been! There’ll be a full summary in this week’s Cans Across The World podcast which drops on Friday.
For the last time this month. So… Non-alcoholic beer?
Today, we’re checking out the Alcohol Free Off Piste Hazelnut Porter from Ipswich based Big Drop Brewing Co. This boi clocks in at 0.5% ABV, 10 IBUs and comes in a 330ml bottle.
I pop the cap and pour it into the glass to reveal that classic porter coloured liquid with a thin white head. On the nose, there’s a strong nutty smell and a hint of chocolate in there.
On the first sip, I’m hit with a chocolatey flavour with that touted hazelnut taste shining through. There is a light body on this and it’s quite watery in texture which gives it away as being an alcohol free beer.
All in all, I’ve enjoyed this. Fair enough it’s alcohol free so it’s a bit thin and watery but the flavour in this is fantastic. I found it very refreshing and moreish with a delicious chocolate finish.
I’d rate this 3 nuttybois out of 5
G’luck,
Seán
