Flower Power Session IPA (Schoppe Bräu Berlin)

It’s no secret (if you listen to the podcast) that I’m a massive fan of Berlin. The people, the culture, the food and drink, I love it all. So today, we’ve got a little session IPA from the good folk at Schoppe Bräu Berlin. It’s called Flower Power and clocks in at 4.7% ABV with an IBU of 45.
On the nose, it’s quite fruity with hints of mango and almost smells like a sour beer if I’m not mistaken. I head in for a sip and really notice that high(ish) IBU straight away with the bitter taste. It’s not enough to screw your face up at mind you but it’s got a cheeky little tang to it. It’s medium bodied and has a biscuity malt character to it as well. Carbonation here is quite light so it does liken itself to a sour in that regard where it’s more about the flavour than the carbonation but it’s not as intense as a sour. It’s quite hot outside so I found the brew to be quite refreshing.
All in all, it was a nice little tipple but I don’t think I could have more than 2 of these at a time, like you wouldn’t stick to this IPA in a session.

I’d give this 3.1 flowerbois out of 5

G’luck,
Seán
