Bear Republic – Racer 5 IPA

The label reads ‘This golden, well hopped, bottle-conditioned ale demands your attention’ I eagerly crack the bottle, take a small gulp and think of the Leo quote from that Tarantino movie ‘you had my curiosity, now you have my attention.’ This brew drinks so smoothly, it’s not even funny – it blows my mind when a brewery are able to create quite a strong beer at 7.5% and still keep that smooth, floral taste. The sun is out today, I have the new Drenge record on and this beer is just sealing the deal. There’s a hint of citrus in the taste which I love about a brew, it’s perfect for just chilling with some tunes on. But as with all the high percentage swills, look after yourselves! I’d imagine you’d be ready for the songs and waving your hands in the air like you just don’t care after a few of these strongbois. Bear Republic’s motto is the All-American ‘bigger is better’ and I totally get it from this beer. There’s not even a hint of it being about the motion in the ocean from them.
